The energy of the band never slowed for the whole hour of their erformance…Aché Brasil proved to be a super band". (The Yukon News, Al Pope, June 7, 2000).

The dancers, musicians and performers of Aché Brasil exhibit a rare combination of authenticity and excellence in their work, which is presently unmatched in North America. Experienced and professional, Aché Brasil is committed to presenting high quality performances which best exemplify Brazil's rich cultural heritage.

About Capoeira Aché Brasil Group
(capoeira academy and classes)

Founded in 1990 by Mestre Eclilson de Jesus, Capoeira Aché Brasil was the first Capoeira group in Canada. Mestre Eclilson de Jesus literally paved the history of Capoeira in the Westcoast. When he first came to Vancouver, Canada there was no knowledge of Capoeira or Brazilian culture. That's when Mestre Eclilson decided to stay with virtually no English at first. He knew this was the place where he wanted to be and therefore, started teaching Capoeira to people who had never ever seen this art form Capoeira before.
Capoeira Aché Brasil Academy has since, been at the forefront of Capoeira
instruction in Vancouver (25 Capoeira classes

per week) and Calgary, with outreach classes at University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. With featured articles in the World of Martial Arts Magazine, Fashion Magazine, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, and a cover story on The Georgia traight, Capoeira Aché Brasil continues to be Canada's premiere Capoeira group, emphasizing quality, community, and personal growth.

Our mission

Both of these organizations work to instill pride in the communities in which it's schools exist (in Vancouver, Calgary-Canada, Osaka-Japan, Recife, Olinda, Natal, Palmares-Brazil), using it's passion for performance to advocate multiculturalism, environmentalism, anti-drugs and anti-racism, and the healthy business practice of its schools. Proving Aché Brasil's "…spectacular" (Moyra Rodger, Executive Producer, Westcoast Music Awards) art resonates throughout the communities it touches and beyond is the number and quality of it's educational programs, charity and benefit performances, individual youth ssponsorships, and people, organizations,
corporations and festivals that continue to request Aché Brasil to perform.
